Heartbreaking... Syria refugees in crisis

Heart-rending pictures of a child’s lifeless body washed ashore on a Turkish beach sparked horror on Wednesday as the cost of Europe’s burgeoning refugee crisis hit home.

Over 438,000 people sought asylum in European countries till July this year. This growing tide of refugees has created a crisis in the EU, especially among Schengen countries where movement of people is unrestricted.

Most immigrants are undertaking perilous journeys across the Mediterranean, 3,279 have died in these attempts. Receiving countries are scrambling to provide food, shelter and healthcare to the emigrants.

Here are some more images that describe this crisis perfectly:
A Syrian refugee from Aleppo holds his one month old daughter moments after arriving on a dinghy on the Greek island of Lesbos.
Migrants arrive at the coast on a dinghy after crossing from Turkey at the southeastern island of Kos, Greece.
A Syrian refugee runs after entering Hungary from Serbia through a barbed wire fence, on the border near Roszke.
Syrian refugees sleep on railway lines near the train station of Idomeni, northern Greece. Greece is Europe’s main entry point for people arriving by sea, as the alternative route from north Africa to Italy has become increasingly dangerous due to fighting in Libya.
French riot policemen cross the Eurotunnel ramp for trucks after they pushed back migrants who were blocking the road early in the morning, at Coquelles near Calais.

A migrant boy cries as he walks on a railway track after he crossed the Hungarian-Serbian border near Roszke.
