Vicky Pattison has been crowned this year's Queen of the
Jungle after being trapped in the Australian wilderness for three weeks.
The 28-year-old was proclaimed the show's winner after
receiving the highest number of votes from the public, beating pop star George
Shelley, 22, in the final of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Following a tense final, the former Geordie Shore star was
dramatically revealed as the Queen, after Ferne McCann, 25, was earlier evicted
in third place.
Despite entering the competition late alongside TOWIE's
Ferne and the hastily departed Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, Vicky won
over the public with her down-to-earth attitude.
Following Ferne's exit in third place only a short while
before, the MTV reality star jumped up and down in excitement as hosts Ant
McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed she'd beaten Union J's George Shelley to
1st place.
Moments before the results were revealed, Vicky sat beside
George as the pair relived their high and low points in the camp with the
show's presenters.
Showcasing the exemplary attitude that won over the public,
she revealed that the experience had been a once in a lifetime opportunity
which she had adored.
I can say it’s been hard,' Vicky explained. 'But most of
the time I have loved it and embraced it.'
However the hardest part for the buoyant Geordie lass
appears to have been the fact she came into the camp just days after the rest
of the celebrities.
Explaining how awkward and unnerving she found it, Vicky
jokingly said: ‘New girl in class doesn’t even come close to it. I was like a
nomad, no one wanted us.
And while much was made of their previous clashes in the
public eye, her fellow late-comer Ferne McCann proved to be one of Vicky's
rocks during her time in the jungle.
Explaining that she feared there would be fireworks as she
thought they were 'too similar', Vicky gushed about the friendship they struck
up in the camp, labeling Ferne 'amazing' and 'nice'.
Asked by the Ant and Dec about her time as the camp's
unlikely peacekeeper, after Lady Colin Campbell frequently clashed with the
likes of Duncan Bannatyne and Tony Hadley, she couldn't help but laugh.
'You know there are some aggy campmates when it's me that’s
required to mediate,' she joked.
But clearly speaking from the heart, and with her previous
past wild antics in mind, she said: ‘I bet everyone thought I'd be going in
there and chucking kangaroos about, but I'm goofy. I hope everyone's seen the
real me in there.'
However, she was far from certain about her fate as the
winner, revealing: ‘It would mean the world to me [to win]. But, if I had to
lose to George I'd take that on the chin because he’s an amazing person.'
However, Vicky is a winner in more ways than one as it's
reported she's set to become a millionaire in 2016 from endorsement deals as a
result of her becoming jungle queen.
The Daily Mirror said: 'As well as the offer of an ITV
presenting job, she will sign two six-figure beauty deals and is also set to
take up an offer to write a book, which would net her another six figures.
'She has dreamed of becoming a television presenter and that
dream is going to come true.'
The star's win may come as a surprise to many, as Vicky shot
to fame with her often drunken and wild escapades as part of the original
Geordie Shore cast - lasting nine series on the hit show.
But in-between 'tashing on' with several young men, and
indulging in some rather raunchy and at times violent behaviour on camera in
the house, the reality star's middle-class upbringing has been lost.
Raised by her charity director mother, Caroll, 59, and her father John, a civil servant, Vicky left school with straight As in her A-Levels before graduating with a 2:1 from Liverpool John Moores University.
However, despite her often controversial image in the
public-eye, Caroll said of her daughter:' I've always been proud of what she
has achieved as she's my baby.
'But some of her shows like Geordie Shore have been very
hard to watch and discuss with the family as the show required her to drink
lots and be argumentative.'
Sharing her daughter's point that the public have only just
seen the 'real' Vicky when it came to her prior appearances on TV and in the
media.
Meanwhile, boy band singer George was the first to talk
about his time in the jungle - having gone in as an original contestant in the
first episode of the series.
Summing up his experience in the camp, the former X Factor
contestant said: ‘It’s completely extreme. I just thought it was going to be an
adventure.
However the pop star revealed that despite breaking down at
certain points, the experience had been a largely positive one.
And when he was asked about the possibility of a jungle
romance between himself and Ferne, the You Got It All singer coyly evaded the
topic, saying: 'We’re going to stay friends, we’ve already got meals and nights
out planned.
‘You’re in the jungle. I dunno, we’re gonna have to spend
some time outside together.'
Leaving just minutes before George and Vicky in third place
was Ferne, who exited the jungle in high spirits - despite losing out on the
grand prize.
Crossing into the show's treetop studio to meet the show's
host Ant and Dec, the TOWIE stalwart couldn't help but smile as she looked back
on her time in the jungle.
One of her pivotal moments in the camp was 'purple-gate',
where Ferne was told by Chris Eubank that she had sent the purple team to snake
rock instead of Duncan Banatyne's team in one of the most divisive trials the
celebs faced.
However, she was vindicated when the Geordie duo played back
the now infamous clip of the boxing star lying to both Ferne and the rest of
the camp in the aftermath of their choice.
Explaining her own horror over the decision, she said: 'I
feel like I've gone mad over it.'
Clearly delighted that she'd been right all along, Ferne was
asked about her blossoming romance with George.
And despite the pair appearing to have a lot of chemistry as
they 'flantered', she explained: 'We're definitely going to stay friends. We've
fallen in love in a completely different way'
But when she was asked to choose who should win, the
emotional Essex girl stood by her friends and refused to pick one above the
other.
'You can't make me do that,' she exclaimed. 'I love them
both, they both deserve to win. I can't pick I'm sorry.'
Following Jorgie Porter and Kieran Dyer's double eviction on
Saturday night, the three remaining contestants were left reeling in the run-up
to the Sunday finale.
Summing up the mood of the reaming trio TOWIE star
exclaimed: 'I am in utter shock! One of us is going to win this!'
Meanwhile George was ecstatic to have made it through to the
show's final and describes his three weeks in the jungle as the 'most
incredible journey'.
Earlier in Sunday's episode, Vicky revealed her own shock at
her inclusion in the final three, whispering to Ferne: 'It's not bad for two reality t***s.'
However emotions were clearly running high in the camp, as
the MTV star broke down in the Bush Telegraph.
Crying as she came to terms with her place in the final, she
told the confessional camera: 'I haven't always done the right thing... but
with people keeping us in here, I think it shows I'm not such a bad person.'
But with 24-hours left in the jungle, the three celebrities
were left with one last Bushtucker Trial left -and all three had to complete a
section to earn the meal of their dreams.
First up was Vicky, who took on the task of supplying the
starters in her Surf and Turf challenge.
Heading off to face her challenge, she joked with George and
Ferne, saying: 'I suppose with it being so close to the end it's going to be
worse than ever before.'
Vicky had to get into a tank, grab one of the coloured keys
off the side and make her way into another tank where she would find a number
of corresponding padlocks.
She had to use the key to open the matching padlock, grab
the star and make her way back to the start to grab the second key until she'd
unlocked all the padlocks.
There were four stars up for grabs the first three worth a
starter for everyone and the fourth for 50 dingo dimes to spend in the vending
machine.
After revealing she had eight minutes to complete the
challenge. Ant and Dec explained that Vicky wouldn't be alone, as she would be
joined by spiders, pythons, eels, yabbies and mud crabs.
She also had to go underwater to unlock the padlocks.
Vicky raced through the trial completing it successfully in
six minutes with four to spare and thanked her fellow Geordies, explaining she
was 'thrilled to ribbons'.
However her task wasn't without tension, as her speed riled
the large snakes and eels up, with the raven-haired beauty lucky to escape
without a bite.
Next up was Ferne, who took on the all time classic Bushtucker
Bonanza, where She was presented with 8 dishes - four jungle specials and four
dream dishes picked by the celebs.
Dec told her that if she ate the Bushtucker dish she would
win a star but if she chose the tasty alternative she would forfeit it, three
stars were for each meal and the fourth gave her 50 Dingo Dimes.
Dishes included a live witchetty grub which Ant told her
tasted like yogurt, according to previous diners or a pepperoni pizza. After
forcing the wiggling grub down Ferne said it tasted of parsley, leaves and
milk.
During the trial, Ferne was also offered lambs brains or
beef pie and mash, but Ferne managed to
choke down the whole brain after joking: 'I'm never going to get a date again.'
Another course was a live water spider, which she had to eat
whole and alive, which she dispatched after managing to make the spider curl up
into a small ball.
The final course on the menu was bull's penis… or
profiteroles.
'I feel as sick as a pig, however bad that looked, double
it, triple it.'
However with Ferne successfully completing the main course
trial, it was up to George to win their deserts, with the former X Factor star
breezing through a bug avalanche - which saw the biggest number of critters
dumped during this year’s series.
But despite the three of them winning every single round of
the triple trial, the jungle still had some surprises in store for them.
As the celebrities relaxed following their final dinner
together they were suddenly asked to move immediately over to the emu pens as a
deadly brown snake was seen heading towards them. George then spotted it by the
camp fire log and said: 'snake, snake.'
Vicky said: 'Who invited you to our dinner party, you
slippery f***, that's one of them brown deadly ones isn't it? OMG look at that
snake.' As the security guard picked it up with a special snake handling pole
and attempted to put it in a bag she said: 'He's foaming, raging.'
The snake was then moved and released in an area well away
from the camp, a and the final three were left to enjoy their last night in the
camp before the winner was crowned on Sunday.
