A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed to death outside a
friend's birthday party in northeast London.
The victim, named as Charlie Kutuyampo, had been celebrating
a girl's 16th birthday with around 100 other young people at a social club in a
Woodford park.
Outside the building, there was an argument between the
victim who was alone and four male youths, said police.
One of the males then stabbed him before all four then ran
towards Chigwell Road, officers added.
Emergency services were called to Ashton Playing Fields in
Woodford at 9.40pm on Saturday night.
He was then taken by ambulance to hospital where he was
later pronounced dead.
No arrests have yet been made and the killing is being
investigated by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information about the
stabbing to contact them.
DCI Ken Hughes, leading the investigation, said: "There
were around 100 young people at this party and we are appealing for anyone with
information or any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.
"The victim's family are naturally devastated and in
shock by what has happened and we need the help of those at the party that
night to progress our investigation."
It is the first murder of a teenager in the capital this
year, Scotland Yard said.
Nineteen teenagers were murdered in London in 2015.
Fifteen were stabbed to death, two others were strangled,
one suffered head injuries and one died from "other" causes.
