Adele turned down the opportunity to present at the 88th Academy Awards 2016.

Adele has reportedly turned down the opportunity to present at the 88th Academy Awards this February.

The singing superstar was last at the awards show in 2013 when she accepted an Oscar for her hit song Skyfall from the James Bond film of the same name.

But sources close to the singer have admitted that the ‘turnaround’ between the night of the Oscars and the opening night of her tour is ‘too tight’.

Organisers are desperate to get her and will still do anything to make it happen but she feels the turnaround is too tight and will not let anything jeopardise her tour.

She is aware things can go wrong which causes delays and also the potential impact of a long flight on her voice. She has dug in her heels on this one.’
There were people in her team who think the Academy Awards is too big a deal to miss but Adele is in a league of her own in terms of fame and success,’ added the source, as if we needed reminding

Since returning to the music industry in 2015 with the smash hit single Hello, Adele has broken what seems to be every record that could possibly be broken.

Her album 25 became the fastest two million-selling album in UK music history, smashing all previous records after 29 days on sale, while lead track Hello fetched the most digital downloads bought in a week, became the most-streamed song in a week in Spotify’s history, and the video became the biggest YouTube debut of a video in 2015.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Adele for comment.
Adele’s tour begins in Belfast on 29 February. Good luck getting any kind of ticket at this point.
