With the unconfirmed rumours that Daniel Craig has filmed
his last movie as James Bond, the world is setting its collective eyes on who
could replace the sixth actor to play the role.
It has, however, been officially announced that Craig is to
star in new US drama Purity, which suggests he may not have time to continue
his big screen spy duties.
With the latest film in the franchise, Spectre, receiving
mixed reviews though solid box office, it’s perhaps time for Daniel to hang up
his Walther PPK and Aston Martin.
Let’s see who’s shaking and stirring the bookies at the
moment.

small screen after 10 years as 007’
Tom Hardy
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
The odds-on favourite at 6/5, Hardy has most definitely got
the action man CV behind him – The Dark Knight Returns, Mad Max: Fury Road and
Bronson are just some of his beefier parts.
He does have the acting chops to back this up and is Oscar
nominated for his performance in the BAFTA winning The Revenant.
But, after four films of gritty Craig, isn’t it time for a
more suave JB?
Idris Elba
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
The Luther star is on a hot streak right now impressing with
last year’s Beasts Of No Nation and he’s no stranger to huge Hollywood
blockbusters, having racked up flicks like Marvel’s Thor films, Pacific Rim and
Prometheus.
He’ll also soon be seen in the next Star Trek film.
Elba has style, talent and huge likability, hence why he’s
one of the top choices at 4/1.
Henry Cavill
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Professionally handsome man Cavill may have been a bit of a
stinker as Superman in Man Of Steel (let’s hope he shapes up for Batman Vs
Superman) but his cool moves in The Man From UNCLE will have done him no harm
at all as he shone in typically 60s classic Bond fashion across Europe.
At 6/1, he’s looking pretty good for a Martini round about
now.
Aidan Turner
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Considering his topless scything skills so deliciously
displayed in BBC’s Poldark, we’re surprised Mr Turner is only 6/1.
John Boyega
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
As reported yesterday, the odds on Boyega becoming Bond have
been slashed to 10/1 after his BAFTA win.
However, at the age of just 23, he’s perhaps just too young
at the moment.
And he’ll be quite busy playing ex-Stormtrooper Finn in Star
Wars Episodes VIII and IX.
James Norton
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Another actor whose odds have been dramatically cut in the
past week.
Norton is now at 18/1 after his brave performance as Andrei
Bolkonsky in the BBC’s six-part epic, War & Peace.
Fans can see him strip down to his trunks in ITV’s
Grantchester but his lack of big-screen action may be against him bagging Bond.
Tom Hiddleston
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Like Elba, Hiddleston has been a hit with the Marvel crowd –
as loveable villain Loki.
Tom plays the lead in the upcoming series from the BBC, The
Night Manager (which starts this Sunday), and you are sure to see bookies
slashing his odds far lower than the 25/1 they currently sit.
Ewan McGregor
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Shockingly, the Star Wars star is at 50/1.
Given that James Bond has Scottish heritage and a cheeky
wink, we would have thought Ewan was a shoe-in.
Looks like somebody must have seen the shocking Mortdecai
after all.
And if you’re looking for some ‘outside bets’…
Emily Blunt
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Incredibly, the bookies reckon there’s as much chance of The
Devil Wears Prada actress becoming the new James Bond as former Doctor Who
David Tennant – both placed 125/1.
Blunt has proved her action-flick skills in Edge Of Tomorrow
and The Adjustment Bureau (just a pity nobody watched them).
Alan Carr
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
At 250/1, the bespectacled talk show host is unlikely to be
unloading his weapon in men’s faces across the world but his odds are the same
as Beyonce Knowles and Hugh Grant.
Ross Kemp
Who should be the next Bond? Here's our favourites
Poor Kemp.
Those nasty bookmakers have him vying for position with the
likes of tennis player Andy Murray and US President Barack Obama at 1000/1.
We will point out that those two guys aren’t even actors!
