Governors, under the aegis Progressive Governors Forum, have
expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Council of State meeting which
held on Thursday at the State House, Abuja.
This is contained in a communiqué signed by Gov. Rochas
Okorocha, Chairman of the forum and governor of Imo State.
The communique expressed satisfaction with the assurances
given by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the National
Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki on the state of preparedness for
the Feb. 14 and 28 General elections.
''The Chairman of INEC had assured Council that INEC is
ready to proceed with elections as scheduled."
It further said that the Chairman of the commission had told
the meeting that INEC had a more robust system to handle the election when
compared to its situation in 2011.
The communique advised all state governors to engage the
Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria in their respective states with a view to
resolving the strike embarked upon by its members..
It would be recalled that there had been repeated calls by
the APC to Nigerians and the international community to prevail on INEC to hold
elections as scheduled.
