She said: 'I can't work out whether I'm crying because of
this award or because Tim Peake said it, my kid's going to think I'm so cool!'
Adele, who returned to the music scene in late 2015 after a
three-year hiatus, continued: 'I got really lost for a while and I didn't know
if I was ever going to come back. For you all to be so kind to me, it’s so
nice!
'Not bad for a girl from Tottenham who don’t like flying,
Global Success!' she added: 'Tim Peake I hope you’re OK and not too hungry!'
Initially, Adele had accepted her awards with composure and,
taking the very first award of the night, Adele dedicated Best British Female
Solo Artist to fellow female solo artist Kesha.
She was making a show of solidarity to the US star that is
signed to the same record label, Sony, but was recently ordered to remain in
her contract despite an on-going law suit against them.
The 27-year-old thanked her management in her acceptance
speech for letting her 'embrace the fact that I am a woman.
Just three gongs later, it was Adele's time to return to the
stage again and she picked up Best British Single for Hello from Simon Le Bon
and British model Suki Waterhouse.
