Rihanna certainly knows how to stand out with her fashion
choices.
And the singer stole the spotlight on Saturday as she
attended the MusiCares Person of the Year event honoring Lionel Richie.
The 27-year-old hitmaker stunned in a sheer plunging gown
with thigh-high slit - which revealed an interesting choice of footwear.
As the Bajan beauty posed for photos backstage she showed
off lots of leg as well as the totally unexpected flat long shoes.
The Umbrella crooner had opted for some red Converse-like
trainers with pointed toes.
It was a clash of glamorous evening wear and sporty casual
but if anyone could make it work, it's Rihanna.
She teamed her floaty frock with a dainty gold chain and
sported a deep berry lipstick for dramatic effect.
The singer's raven locks were parted immaculately for her
red carpet look.
The songstress wore the mixed up look onto the stage as she
belted out songs in a tribute to Richie, 66.
Others performing during the night included Pharrell and
Stevie Wonder, Usher, Davie Grohl and many more.
The event is also expected to raise millions of dollars for
charity.
Meanwhile Rihanna has been proving her fashionista
credentials.
On Friday she presented her Fenty Puma by Rihanna collection
during New York Fashion Week.
The clothing range focused on Japanese-inspired streetwear,
mostly in black and white.
It also featured sneakers, many with high heels and
platforms.
Rihanna told The Associated Press 'I enjoy creating and
expressing the crazy things going on in my mind through something that people
can see and that is tangible. That is the best part, being able to express
yourself.
'Fashion to me was just one of those things that came
naturally,' she said. 'I enjoy discovering it -- all the different styles,
finishes, fabrics, silhouettes. It's not easy, but it doesn't feel like work.'
