A man is fighting for his life after a "serious"
crash at a busy east London junction.
The pedestrian was struck by a car at the junction of
Stamford Hill and Clapton Common just before 6.15am on Tuesday.
Police said the victim, who is in his 40s, was taken to
hospital where his injuries are being treated as life-threatening.
Officers have sealed off roads and motorists are being
warned to stay away, while several buses are on diversion.
The Metropolitan Police tweeted: "We are currently
dealing with a serious Road Traffic Collision at Stamford Hill J/w Clapton
Common E5. Avoid area. Long Delays."
On Friday, a man died after being hit by a bus at the same
junction.
One driver who passed the latest crash tweeted: "Yet
another serious accident in Clapton Common area. They seem to be happening
almost daily."
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We
sent an ambulance crew and a medical team from London's Air Ambulance by car to
the scene. An ambulance crew from Hatzola also attended.
"We treated a man reported to be in his 40s for a head
injury. He was taken as a priority to a major trauma centre escorted by the
doctor from London's Air Ambulance.
