A man falsely claimed he was taking a bomb into the US
Embassy in Berlin, sparking a major evacuation.
The 23-year-old German man was arrested after the scare, and

Police had to clear the entire area, which is right near the
landmark Brandenburg gate, and get in a police robot to investigate the man’s
bag.
However, they only found ‘personal items’ like clothes.
The incident started at around 7.30am on Friday, when the
security personnel turned the man away at the door of the building.
Police spokesman Jens Berger said the man allegedly became
violent, and tried to punch the security officers.
As he was being arrested by Berlin police, the man told them
there was a bomb in his suitcase.
The bag in question had been left in front of the entrance.
Very little is known about the man, but Berger said ‘there
are many indications he is psychologically disturbed’.
