Muhammadu Buhari has expressed regrets that
previous administrations failed to honor agreements between Nigeria and China
in the completion of outstanding joint projects, including the 4,000 megawatts
Mambilla Hydro-Electric Power Project.
This came on a day Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said Federal
Government was set to spearhead investment in solar technology, both at utility
scale and solar-to-home solutions.
Buhari said his administration was keen on completing the
Mambilla project and would abide by the pacts entered into by the previous
regimes.
Speaking at a meeting with Mr. Li Keqiang, the Premier of
the State Council of the Peoples Republic of China yesterday, the President
said that in the shortest possible time, all joint power, rail, road and
aviation projects would begin to directly and quickly improve the lives of
Nigerians.
President Buhari said he was particularly keen on
actualising the Mambilla Power Project because of its huge potentialities to
boost economic growth.
